Poreč, June 3, 2025
The fifth edition of the Istria300 in Poreč is sold out and has set a new record with 4,200 participants. Those still hoping to take part can do so via the waiting list, the Istria300 Ladies Initiative, or by booking a Valamar hotel package that includes a race entry.
This edition of Istria300 marks a special anniversary — and breaks all previous records: 4,200 participants from over 40 nations will line up at the start on September 27 in Poreč. This makes the prestigious cycling event not only sold out for the fifth year in a row but also the edition with the highest number of participants since its inception. Notably, 55 percent of the participants are from Austria, highlighting the close connection between Istria and the Alpine region.
Compared to last year, the popular course format and distances remain unchanged. All participants start together in the historic old town of Poreč and can decide during the ride whether to complete the full 300 kilometers or opt for one of the shorter routes of 209 or 134 kilometers. The complete road closure to motor traffic ensures a particularly safe riding experience and is a key quality feature of Istria300.
While Istria300 mainly appeals to ambitious road cyclists, the event has also attracted numerous well-known athletes in recent years — including snowboarders Alexander and Sabine Payer, biathlete Christoph Sumann, ski jumpers Martin Koch and Robert Kranjec, and ski star Ivica Kostelić. This year’s program is even more attractive: for nearly two weeks, guided bike tours powered by Pedal & Ride Experience will be offered free of charge to all participants. This ensures that Istria300 offers a rich experience before and after the main event.
With regular registration closed, there are now three remaining ways to secure a starting spot at Istria300: registration via the waiting list (freed-up spots will be allocated by lottery), or through limited start packages available in combination with a stay at a Valamar hotel.
Women can still register at the regular price using the promo code “Istria300Ladies.” This initiative aims to inspire more women to take up road cycling. Supported by dedicated female cyclists, it offers tailored services and packages to make participation in Istria300 even more appealing to women.
For many participants, Istria300 marks the sporting end of the season. While autumn is already settling into Central Europe, Istria invites cyclists to extend the summer — with sunshine, Mediterranean hospitality, and ideal conditions for cycling fans. “Istria300 brings participants from around the world together — last year, over 90 percent came from abroad. It’s the last major cycling event by the sea before the season ends, known for its welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community,” says Event Director Julius Rupitsch.
Since 2021, Istria300 has been organized under the patronage of Valamar Riviera, which is actively involved in expanding cycling infrastructure and promoting cycling tourism in Istria. Participants benefit from attractive offers in selected Valamar hotels, including discounted stays with a promo code, early bird breakfast on race day, and secure bike storage in hotel rooms. The Valamar Bike Center in Poreč, located directly in front of the Valamar Parentino Hotel, serves as the central meeting point, offering modern infrastructure and high-quality KTM road bike rentals. With the motto “Valamar loves Bike,” Valamar emphasizes its commitment to cyclists and ensures a safe and enjoyable event experience.
