In December 2019, right before the pandemic, Istria300 was launched as a new event in a “new” market and scheduled for 2020.
Due to political measures, we were forced to postpone until 2021. Our journey began with 800 participants. In 2022, we achieved around 1.400 participants. In the third year, we doubled the numbers to 2.800. This year, we closed registrations after achieving over 3.600 registrations from 40 nations.
Usually, international road cycling events (Maratona dles Dolomites, Mallorca 312, Ötztaler Radmarathon, etc) in industry countries have a national participant market share between 30 and 50% – while we have 8%. With similar market circumstances as industry countries, we should have about 6.000 participants.
As we celebrate four years of Istria300, we’re also looking to the future. Istria300 has become a significant brand, and our next step is to focus on community projects that can bring substantial revenue potential outside the event. Istria300 is not just an event. It’s a strategic development vehicle for the Istrian cycle tourism, and we’re excited about the possibilities that lie ahead.
